COMMUNICATION- THE NEED OF THE HOUR

“The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives”.

Communication refers to the transfer of information between two or more persons with the objective of successful conveyance of an instruction, problem or suggestion. Communication is the bedrock of every part of a business. When there is effective communication between individuals, they achieve the task by successfully delivering, receiving, and comprehending the message. Thus, communication is the process of the countless transfer of messages amongst team members keeping cognizance of what you say, and how your audience interprets what you say. Effective communication skills are critical for ensuring that things are moving in the right direction and that progress is being achieved. Thus, it is vital to be more skilled in written and verbal communication.

Why are communication skills being important for students?

  • Value Other People’s Opinions

Always treat others with respect and pay attention to what they have to say. You must respect and acknowledge people in order to communicate effectively. Respect is related to listening to what others are saying; by doing so, the other person feels appreciated, resulting in more open, honest, and fruitful conversation.

  • Be Attentive

“To be a good communicator, you must first be a good listener,” as the saying goes. It’s critical to communicate and listen intently. It’s important to practice active listening skills and pay close attention to what others are saying.

  • Believe in Yourself

Never become upset or combative, even in the most difficult situations. Being self-assured does not imply disregarding or ignoring the views of others. It’s all about maintaining strong eye contact and a confident body stance when communicating.

  • Make sure you don’t say anything that could be construed as offensive or dismissive of other people’s points of view. Always talk with confidence in what you’re saying or about to say, as this will improve your interpersonal communication interactions.
  • Less is more when it comes to communication. Make an effort to say as little as possible in your message. Without chatting excessively, get right to the point.
  • A person’s body language can help us grasp and decode what they’re saying. Body language also helps you figure out what someone else is thinking and experiencing.

Communication is the most important component of anyone’s life. To live a fuller and happier life, it is critical to express one’s thoughts and feelings. We suffer less and feel better about everything around us if we communicate more. As a result, mastering the skill of good communication is critical for effectively communicating one’s message.
