The Future of Work: Emerging Opportunities in Automated World

Automation, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and digitalization are constantly changing the landscape of opportunities available in the world. Economists predict that by 2022, the productivity and efficiency of the workforce will increase by 40 per cent. The digital transformation will lead to a rise in economic growth rates to double. Automation will act as a driver of the workforce in manufacturing as well as the administrative roles and they will evolve to a high degree or will be changed completely.

According to research by McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), 6 out of 10 jobs include 30 per cent and more tasks that can be done through automation. This digital shift is not the epicentre of a declining workforce, but a positive movement, the one with an abundance of opportunities, is shown instead. When tasks are repeated, for example, emailing, data processing, automating data etc., the physical workforce gets inefficient. If these kinds of responsibilities are automated, it will create more opportunities for success for the employees and the doors towards efficacy will open widely.

Even though automation prevents repetitive tasks, innovation and critical analysis are still one of the few aspects only the human brain can cover. And the jobs which require creative decision making and critical analysis are expected to grow exponentially. Humans have embedded soft skills in them which adds up to their social curiosity and emotional intelligence. These skills owned by us as human beings are in great demand. Hence, we should constantly focus on building and improving soft skills like communication, time management, adaptability, network-building and listening. These skills will not only help you stand out but also survive in an automated world. With the rise in demand for quality and affordable online education to suffice the needs of today’s knowledge gainers, it has become more accessible and comfortable than ever to work towards education while managing the demands of work, family, and personal life.

The truth is that nobody likes to interact with robots and humans are considered more reliable because of the emotional factor. Even though many tasks can be subjected to automation in the coming future, the fact remains that, in many situations, humans are simply better equipped to help other humans. Functioning in an automated world is plausible with future-oriented skills and an evolving mindset — the world is improving and revolving with it is the key to success.
