Democracy over Tyranny Blog

Democracy calls us to have different conversations. It is easier and more comfortable for us to live in perpetual high dudgeon inside our echo chambers than it is to have a meaningful conversation with people who disagree with us. Democracy gives us the freedom of expression, allows us to follow any religion, work according to our choice, and confers upon us a right to live without fear. It may seem that people across the globe have access to these fundamental rights, but that is not true. Even today, some countries follow an autocratic form of rule in which one individual exercises power without any legal restraint, which is referred to as Tyranny. The People under Tyranny have to put up with the chaos and uncertainty that comes from living with a Government unbound by Clear and True Laws. The people live with an entity that can do whatever it wants, whenever it wants, with no regard for the law. When it comes down to it, the People do not matter at all to the Leaders of a Tyranny, whereas when it comes to democracy, it is the government for the people, of the people, and by the people.

India prides itself on being the "World's Greatest Democracy", with a population of 1.3 billion people, more than 800 million of whom are eligible to vote. Since the first general election in 1951, India has been praised for its methods of peaceful transition of power every five years. Freedom of expression is a right guaranteed by our Constitution. It is essential for our free will, to an individual's right to self-development and truth-seeking.�

On 26th November, the Government of India started an initiative- Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements. It encapsulates everything progressive about India's socio-cultural, political, and economic identity. It is being celebrated as Jan-Utsav, which means that it is for the people of the country.
