DILLI - YEH SHEHER NAHI MEHFIL HAI

In the auspicious air of my city, I feel a different kind of vibe; A vibe that gives birth to many dreams and positivity. Its been 18 years since Im living here and my city knows all my secrets. I have shared everything with Delhi. It has witnessed all my ups and downs. Delhi might not be the safest place but it has been my happiest place.

Delhi is the heart of India and is the epitome of love, beauty and elegance. People here are magnanimous, open-minded and quite audacious after all Dilli hai Dilwalo Ki. People from all the parts of the country live here and all festivals of every religion are celebrated by everyone and Unity in Diversity is quite evident. There are approx. 1.9 crore people living in Delhi and everyone loves Delhi in their own unique way. After all Delhi never Fails to make us happy. From the Street Food of Chandni Chowk to the Cafes of Hudson Lane, Hauz Khas and Satya Niketan; Delhi has always been The King of Street Food. If you are a foodie, then Delhi is the place for you. While roaming around the narrow roads of Chandni chowk you will be witnessing some century-old restaurants like Kake di Hatti, Lotan chole wala, old famous Jalebi Wala, Gianis di Hatti, Natraj Dahi Bhalle, Parathe wali Gali, chole bhature and lassi-wala and many more restaurants which are definitely worth a try. Kebabs are everywhere but old Delhis fried and tandoori roasted kebabs, chicken tikka kebab and Shami kebab, which melts like butter in your mouth are the real gems; and if you are fond of authenticity and ambience provided by cafes, then cafes of Connaught place, Hudson lane, Satya Niketan and Hauz Khas have your back.

After doing all the work restlessly from Monday to Friday we all need a break and shopping, clubbing and chilling with friends and family are some good ways to spend the weekend. Hauz Khas is heaven for clubbing whereas Shopping in Delhi is really diverting. Here, you can even find a whole market just for a product; if you want to buy any electronics product, then, Gaffar Market is waiting for you. Planning to wear something traditional this Diwali, then, Chandni chowk is waiting for you. Want to buy clothes and accessories? Connaught place, Kamla Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar they all are waiting for you. When it comes to fashion we, Delhiites, are one step ahead and people here are quite well-versed with the leading trends and style sensibilities. Transportation is easily available as well as affordable and Delhi metro is our lifeline, we cannot even think of driving a car from Delhi to Gurugram or Gurugram to Noida.

One thing we all love about Delhi is Dilli Ki Sardi and ancient monuments. The food, tapri wali chai, coffee kala (Paschim Vihar), road-side bonfires, late-night drive to Murthal, Qawwali sessions at Nizamuddin on Thursday and having Daulat Ki Chat defines Delhi winters perfectly. As Delhi is a mix of ancient and modern culture and is blessed with 3 World Heritage Sites and 174 Monuments like Red Fort, Qu tub Minar, Jantar Mantar and Lodhi Garden; and this makes Delhi a tourist attraction.

Delhi I admire you the most and now as Im writing this blog it is getting hard to resist that wash of nostalgia and with teary eyes I am reliving the memories. I have grown up in Delhi and I still get lost in Connaught place, admire the beauty of India Gate, find peace at Bangla Sahib and still struggling with the crowd at Rajiv Chowk metro station. The more I explore this city, the more I walk through its lanes, it makes me fall in love with it a little more every time and whenever I look back to these good times I say, for nostalgias sake, Lets do it again.
