SELF CONFIDENCE AND MOTIVATION

"With realization of one's potential and self-confidence in one's ability, one can build a better world"

Dalai Lama

One of the most discussed and researched areas in the philosophical world is motivation. Why do people do what they do? And how do you motivate others to do what you expect in the workplace? Understanding how and why people are motivated can encourage them to do their best and do their best at work. The more successful and motivated they are to reach the goals they set, the more confident they are in their abilities, which can make them even more motivated. Thus, one must work on their self-confidence and motivation to achieve their goals set.

You must believe in yourself for other people to believe in you, and they will not want to work with you if they feel you are lacking in abilities. If you are confident and self-motivated, you are more likely to set goals for yourself that will lead to achievement, because you will have more momentum than someone without these qualities.

The first step to working on both traits is simply understanding what they are.

Self-confidence is the belief in one's abilities, while motivation is the desire to get things done. They go together in this sense because when you are confident in your abilities, you will seek out tasks and activities which will allow you to develop, hone and apply those skills, thus increasing your confidence in them. On the other hand, if you have no confidence in your abilities then you will not be able to do anything at work.

Self-confidence can also be thought of as confidence that your strengths are enough to get you through times that you feel outside your abilities.

Motivation is the desire to do things for reasons other than simply doing for the sake of it. Motivation is important at work. If you are not motivated to do your assigned tasks then you will not be able to do a decent job and will start developing an inferiority complex, which is not only bad for your work life, but your personal life as well. It is important to stay motivated so that you see tasks in the workplace as fun and enjoyable tasks, rather than things you need to do or want to avoid.

What are the basic steps to boost your self-confidence?

  • Do not call yourself clumsy, timid, or shy.
  • Realize that the world does not focus on you.
  •  Know and accept who you are
  • Sweat - through exercise
  • Smile
  • Groom Yourself
  • Do what you like
  • Prepare for a Possibility of rejection and failure
  • Sit up straight and walk straight - you are awesome

It is important to keep a close eye on both traits at work because they are particularly important for overall success and happiness at work. If you have an unbalanced proportion of these traits, you may want to hide from the world and avoid situations out of fear of failure. On the other hand, you may try to force yourself into situations where there are too many things for you to handle, or not enough tasks for you to handle.
